Tour Plan and Itenary

Jogini Waterfall is located near Vashisht Village, which is about 3-4 kilometers from the main Manali town center. The waterfall itself is a short trek from Vashisht.

  • To Vashisht Village: From Manali, you can take an auto-rickshaw or a taxi to Vashisht Village. It's also possible to walk from Manali to Vashisht (around 45 minutes).
  • From Vashisht Village to the Waterfall: The trek to Jogini Waterfall starts from behind the Vashisht Temple. The trail is well-marked and winds through apple orchards, pine forests, and small streams. You'll pass traditional Himachali houses along the way.

The trek to Jogini Waterfall is considered moderately easy to moderate. It involves some uphill sections and rocky patches, but it's generally manageable for beginners and families with children (with proper supervision). It takes approximately 1 to 2 hours to reach the waterfall from Vashisht Temple, covering a distance of about 3 kilometers one way. There might be a slightly more challenging uphill route for experienced trekkers to reach the very top.

The best time to visit Jogini Waterfall is:

  • Summer (March to June): The weather is pleasant, the trails are clear, and the waterfall has a good flow.
  • Post-Monsoon/Autumn (September to November): The skies are clear, the surroundings are lush green, and the water flow is still strong.
  • Avoid Monsoon (July to August): While the waterfall is at its fullest, the trekking trails can become very slippery and dangerous due to heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of landslides.
  • Winter (December to February): The area can be covered in snow, offering a magical, serene experience. However, the trek can be challenging due to icy paths, and the waterfall might be partially frozen.

No, there is no entry fee to visit Jogini Waterfall. It's a natural site open to the public. However, you might incur parking charges if you bring a vehicle to Vashisht, and local vendors might sell refreshments.

  • Trek: Enjoy the scenic trek through picturesque landscapes.
  • Photography: Capture the beauty of the cascading waterfall, lush surroundings, and panoramic views.
  • Relaxation: Find a peaceful spot to sit, unwind, and enjoy the soothing sounds of nature.
  • Visit Jogini Mata Temple: Offer prayers at the small temple located near the base of the waterfall, which holds religious significance for the locals.
  • Take a dip: A small pool forms at the base of the waterfall. Some visitors take a refreshing dip, but be aware that the water is very cold, and rocks can be slippery. Exercise caution.
  • Enjoy local food: You might find small cafes or local vendors along the way selling snacks and beverages. Some offer authentic Himachali cuisine.

While a small pool forms at the base, the water is extremely cold as it originates from glacial melt, and currents can be strong, especially during and after monsoon. It's generally not recommended to swim due to safety concerns. If you do, proceed with extreme caution and ensure you are a strong swimmer.

  • Vashisht Temple & Hot Springs: Located at the starting point of the trek, known for its ancient temple and natural hot water springs (believed to have medicinal properties).
  • Manu Temple: Another important temple in Old Manali.
  • Hadimba Devi Temple: A unique wooden temple amidst a deodar forest.
  • Old Manali: A charming village with cafes, guesthouses, and a bohemian vibe.
  • Manali Mall Road: The bustling heart of Manali for shopping and dining.
