- From Manali: The most common route is via the Leh-Manali Highway, crossing the Rohtang Pass (or Atal Tunnel) to Gramphu, then continuing towards Batal. From Batal, a rough and narrow road of about 14-15 km leads to a parking area, from where you have to trek for about 1-2 km to reach the lake.
- From Kaza: You can take a taxi or bus towards Manali and get off at Batal, then proceed as above.
- Trekking: Many trekkers doing the Hampta Pass trek end near Chatru and then drive to Chandratal.
